Custom Advantage Incentives

Flexible incentives for complex, high‑impact energy upgrades

The Custom Advantage Program makes it easy for JCP&L customers to pursue non-standard, complex facility‑specific electric efficiency projects, with two incentive pathways designed to match project scale and complexity.

This program combines the former Custom and Engineered Solutions Tier II offerings into a single, more flexible structure, giving customers greater choice and higher incentive potential.

Customer Incentives

Program incentives are subject to a $4M cap per entity per year, 2-year simple payback requirement, and a maximum of 75% of project or incremental cost. Income-eligible multifamily customers may receive incentives up to 80% of project cost.

Program Ally Payment

The Custom Advantage Program offers eligible customers with access to technical assistance services throughout the project lifecycle, from initial audit through post-installation measurement and verification. JCP&L will pay your engineering firm directly for eligible technical assistance services as they are completed.

Program Allies may select which technical service project phases they would like upfront funding support – there is no requirement to participate in every phase. These payments are advanced on your behalf and will be deducted from the final customer incentive payment.

Eligible technical assistance services include:

  • Custom measures are not eligible when a Prescriptive incentive is available
    • Exception: Mixed projects may include both Prescriptive and Custom measures
  • Pre-approval is required before installation of Custom measures
  • LED projects not covered by Prescriptive incentives must provide:
    • Existing fixture wattage documentation
    • Existing and proposed operating hours
  • See the Incentive Guide for full requirements

Optional: Technical Assistance
Select the engineering services that best fit your project needs, from audits and energy modeling to commissioning and M&V, with eligible costs advanced by JCP&L. A Program Ally can help navigate requirements and streamline the process, but you choose the level of assistance you need.

*Inspections are conducted by TRC: first at approximately 50% of measures installed, second at approximately 80% installed and final once all measures are fully installed. Each payment is issued once TRC confirms the corresponding installation threshold has been met.
